Recently, construction of a large-scale steel structure warehouse in Lusaka, Zambia, undertaken by China Canglong Group, has begun. This steel warehouse covers an area of ​​1,200 square meters, is 40 meters long, 30 meters wide, and has a cornice height of 8.4 meters. With its excellent structural performance and efficient delivery capabilities, it has injected strong impetus into local warehousing upgrades.

Scientific design and high-quality materials create a model of climate-adaptive warehousing in Africa

In view of the high temperature and rainy climate of Zambia’s savannah, Canglong Group adopts the world’s leading portal frame steel structure system to ensure that the building has both strength and economy. The main frame is made of high-strength hot-rolled H-shaped steel, and the distance between columns is precisely controlled at 7.5 meters, significantly improving space utilization. The roof and wall purlins are fully made of 275g/㎡ galvanized C-shaped steel, combined with 360° seam standing seam roof panels to form a tight waterproof barrier to effectively resist erosion during the rainy season.

“We use finite element analysis software to simulate and optimize wind load and snow load, so that the structural safety factor far exceeds local regulations.” Director of Cansalong’s overseas business department said, “C-shaped steel with a galvanized layer thickness of 85 μm can guarantee an anti-corrosion life of more than 25 years, significantly reducing the owner’s later maintenance costs.”

Faced with challenges such as supply chain coordination, long shipping cycles, and complex on-site installation in multinational projects, Canglong innovatively launched a full-chain service system of design, manufacturing, logistics, and installation:

• Digital design first: Complete three-dimensional modeling based on BIM technology to avoid node conflicts in advance and shorten the on-site construction cycle by 30%.
• Modular assembly process: The factory prefabrication rate reaches 85%, and only bolt connections are needed on site. A team of 20 people completed the main body hoisting in 15 days, which is 4 times more efficient than traditional concrete structures.

“It only took 70 days from the confirmation of the drawings to the receipt of the goods. The professionalism of the Canglong team far exceeded expectations!” said the project owner representative with emotion.
